Civmec is seeking experienced Polywelders to join our team for the upcoming Port Debottlenecking Project. We have been awarded the major civil works package for PDP2 at BHP’s Nelson Point, which includes delivery of:

New Car Dumper 6 (CD6)
-
Vault and tunnel construction
-
Positioner slabs
-
Substation works
-
Dust scrubber installation
-
Conveyor interface structures
The Role
- Carrying out butt welding, electrofusion welding, and pipe preparation to project specifications
- Installing, aligning, and securing HDPE piping systems across vaults, tunnels, substations, and conveyor interfaces
- Conducting weld testing, QA documentation, and ensuring compliance with Civmec and BHP standards
- Working closely with supervisors and other trades to meet project milestones
- Maintaining a strong focus on safety, housekeeping, and adherence to site procedures
- Supporting broader civil works activities as required across the PDP2 package
- Perform labouring/other general duties when required
About You
To be successful in the role you will possess the following:
- Nationally recognised Construction Safety Awareness card (White Card)
- Polywelding Tickets – Butt Welding & Electrofusion (current and valid)
- Construction White Card
- High Risk Work Licence (if applicable to supporting duties – e.g., LF, DG, WP)
- Working at Heights (desirable)
- Demonstrate first attack firefighting equipment certificate (desirable)
- Demonstrated experience in HDPE welding (butt and electrofusion) across civil or mining projects
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, isometrics, specifications, and standards
- Strong understanding of QA requirements, including weld logs, visual inspections, and adherence to WPS
- A commitment to maintaining correct welding parameters and delivering consistent, high‑quality welds
