This is a great opportunity to join our SMP team working on the CSBP Tertiary Abatement Project NAAN2 located in Kwinana, WA as a Special Class Welder.
CSBP Limited, part of Wesfarmers Chemicals, Energy and Fertilisers (WesCEF), continues to strengthen Australia’s chemical and fertiliser capability across mining, agriculture, and industrial sectors. In partnership with Coogee Chemicals through Australian Gold Reagents (AGR), CSBP operates a world‑class Sodium Cyanide facility in Kwinana.
The Role
On the ammonia side of the CSBP plant, the project scope includes welding works carried out during the preshut phase. Welders will be responsible for field welding of small and large bore piping systems during installation tasks across construction and heavy industrial environments. The work requires broad experience across diverse project settings, with activities focused on supporting upgrades within NAAN 2 and the tertiary abatement areas while integrating safely with existing live‑plant systems. Welders must have experience and be able to pass weld tests on 3G, 4G and 6G GTAW on both carbon and stainless materials.
This is a full‑time role operating Monday–Thursday (10.5‑hour days), Friday (8 hours), with occasional Saturday work as required.
Reporting to the Leading Hand/Supervisor your key responsibilities are:
- Interpret drawings and specifications, and ensure installation adheres to these
- Planning and preparing work areas and materials as directed
- Performing high‑quality welds on small‑ and large‑bore pipework
- Completing fit‑ups, tacking, and weld preparationInstalling piping components, supports, and associated hardware
- Conducting welds to meet QA/QC requirements and following all inspection processes
- Maintaining safe work practices around live‑plant systems
- Upholding housekeeping standards and maintaining a clean, safe work area
- Carrying out additional general duties as required
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Australian‑recognised Trade Certificate in Engineering – Fabrication/Welding
- Proven experience in construction and heavy‑industrial environments
- Ability to pass weld tests in 3G, 4G, and 6G GTAW on carbon and stainless‑steel materials
- Current High risk elevating work platform license
- Current Working Safely at Heights certification
- Current Driver’s Licence
- Nationally recognised Construction Safety Awareness Card (White Card)
- Strong ability to interpret drawings, isometrics, and specifications
- Ability to complete and pass a pre-employment medical and drug & alcohol screen.
