The Role

Civmec are seeking a skilled Business Systems Analyst to play a key role in supporting program-wide digital integration, reporting, and automation across a complex defence shipbuilding environment.


This position acts as the crucial link between technical systems and business operations ensuring that data flows, interfaces, and reporting solutions are both technically sound and strategically valuable. You’ll thrive in an evolving systems landscape, identifying opportunities for both pragmatic interim solutions and robust long-term improvements all guided by business value and operational context. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain automated scripts, interfaces, and data gateways to streamline workflows and enhance data consistency.
  • Design and deliver reports and dashboards that provide meaningful insights for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into effective reporting and system solutions.
  • Serve as the interface between IT and business functions, ensuring seamless translation of requirements across domains.
  • Support the integration of business systems across engineering, logistics, production, and configuration management.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot system integrations, scheduled tasks, and data flows across server environments.
  • Identify and implement practical interim solutions in dynamic, evolving system setups.
  •  Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, focusing on digital enablement and process optimisation. 

 

About You

To be successful in the role you will possess the following:

  • Tertiary qualification in Information Systems, Business Analytics, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Further training or certifications in systems integration, data analytics, or automation tools.
  • Proven ability to work across both technical and business domains, translating needs into actionable solutions.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Solid understanding of IT system landscapes, server environments, and infrastructure concepts.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability, capable of interpreting complex data and system interactions.
  • Proficiency with scripting and automation tools (e.g. Python, SQL, or similar).
  • Experience using reporting and data visualisation tools (e.g. Power BI, Excel). 

 

Due to the Security Clearance required for this position, applicants must be an Australian Citizen and eligible to obtain and uphold a Baseline Security Clearance through the Australian Department of Defence.
