Reporting to the CDI Commercial Manager, the Senior Contract Administrator is responsible for the ongoing commercial administration of existing major subcontracts on the Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV) Program. The role focuses on the review and management of subcontractor variations, progress claims and extension of time claims, ensuring all actions are undertaken in accordance with contractual requirements and project governance frameworks. Working closely with the commercial and project teams, the position supports effective subcontract performance, manages contractual risk, and ensures accurate records, reporting and professional contractual correspondence across the project.

 

The Role

The successful candidate will drive outcomes and support in all aspects of the project commercial and contract functions, including but not limited to:

  • Lead the administration of existing major subcontracts, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations, commercial frameworks and project requirements.
  • Review, assess and administer subcontractor variations, progress claims and extension of time (EOT) claims, ensuring timely, accurate and contractually compliant outcomes.
  • Prepare, review and issue formal subcontract correspondence, including notices, determinations, claims responses and contractual communications.
  • Support the Project Commercial Manager by providing informed advice on subcontract risks, entitlements, performance issues and commercial exposures.
  • Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date subcontract registers and records, including claims, variations, payment status and contractual milestones.
  • Manage subcontractor performance from a commercial perspective, supporting resolution of issues and alignment with project delivery objectives.
  • Prepare clear and reliable commercial reports and documentation that are audit‑ready and compliant with governance requirements.

 

About You

To be successful in the role you will possess the following:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification desirable, such as Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Commercial or Law.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in contract administration, with a strong focus on managing existing subcontracts on complex projects. Previous experience in defence contracts is highly desirable but not essential.
  • Proven ability to communicate clearly and professionally with subcontractors and internal stakeholders, both written and verbal.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word and Outlook, with the ability to manage commercial records and reporting efficiently
