Civmec is proud to be delivering the civil works package for a major development within BHP’s Nelson Point facility in Port Hedland, WA. The scope includes civil and structural works associated with the new Car Dumper 6, along with supporting civil infrastructure required for the broader Port Debottlenecking Project Phase 2 (PDP2).
We are seeking a detail oriented, analytical, and commercially focused Cost Controller Senior to support the project team and ensure accurate cost management across this large-scale execution phase.
This role will play a key part in monitoring project performance, maintaining cost integrity and supporting effective decision making throughout the project lifecycle.
This position operates in our Henderson Head Office.
The Role
You will play a key role in driving the project’s financial performance by leading cost control, forecasting and reporting activities. Working closely with project leadership, commercial teams, and subcontractors, you will ensure full visibility of project financials, maintain robust cost governance, and provide forward looking insights that support decision making in a fast paced delivery environment. Strong analytical capability, accuracy, and the ability to translate data into meaningful reporting will be essential.
- Lead project cost control, ensuring accurate tracking of expenditure, commitments, accruals, and cost movements.
- Maintain project budgets, cost codes, and financial governance aligned with scope and revenue changes.
- Deliver month end reporting, including cost to complete, variance analysis, margin performance, and cash flow forecasts.
- Develop forward looking cost forecasts for labour, plant, equipment, and subcontractors using financial and progress data.
- Oversee claims, certificates, invoicing, and payment cycles, ensuring deadlines and compliance are met.
- Manage procurement controls, including requisitions, POs, GRNs, and audit of authorisations.
- Monitor subcontractor obligations such as insurances, securities, retentions, and bank guarantees.
- Provide financial insights to project leadership, highlighting cost trends, risks, and commercial opportunities.
- Strengthen reporting frameworks and dashboards to improve visibility of project performance.
- Support continuous improvement in forecasting accuracy, cost governance, and financial processes
About You
To be successful in the role you will possess the following:
- Tertiary qualification in Finance or a related discipline.
- Professional experience across the mining, construction, and engineering sectors.
- Strong capability with ERP systems, including SAP or equivalent platforms.
- Proven experience in reporting, budgeting, and financial analysis.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, with advanced skills where required.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and perform effectively in high pressure environments.
