Join the Civmec Team

Right now, we’ve got a great opportunity for a Junior Estimator to join our Henderson team and kickstart their career. You’ll be part of a tight-knit, experienced estimating and business development crew who’ll support you every step of the way as you learn the ropes, get involved in real projects, and help shape winning bids. If you’re keen to grow, curious about how big builds come together, and ready to make an impact, we’d love to hear from you.  As a Graduate/Junior Estimator, you’ll play a key role in supporting the preparation of competitive and accurate tenders across a variety of projects. While you’ll be gradually introduced to technical estimating tasks, you’ll be backed by a highly experienced team who will guide you through each stage of the process. From interpreting drawings and specifications to engaging with suppliers and subcontractors, you’ll be learning in a collaborative environment where questions are encouraged, and growth is supported. This role is ideal for someone looking to build a strong foundation in estimating within a structured and supportive team.

About You

  • Numerical proficiency: Comfortable working with quantities, measurements, and cost breakdowns.
  • Attention to detail: Able to spot discrepancies in drawings, specs, or supplier quotes.
  • Basic understanding of construction/fabrication processes: Even if not fully developed, a foundational knowledge helps with learning quickly.
  • Problem-solving mindset: Can think critically when faced with incomplete or ambiguous information.
  • Eagerness to learn: Open to training, feedback, and mentorship.
  • Adaptability: Can shift between tasks or projects and handle changing priorities.
  • Initiative: Willing to ask questions, seek clarification, and take ownership of small tasks.
  • Clear communicator: Able to write and speak professionally with internal teams and external suppliers.
  • Team player: Works well with senior estimators, project managers, and procurement.
  • Listening skills: Understands instructions and can interpret client or stakeholder needs.
  • Structured approach: Keeps track of multiple quotes, deadlines, and revisions.
  • Reliability: Delivers work on time and follows through on commitments.
  • Basic software skills: Familiarity with Excel, estimating software, or project management tools.
  • Curiosity about the industry: Shows interest in how things are built or fabricated.
  • Professionalism: Presents well in meetings and communicates respectfully.
  • Resilience: Can handle pressure during tender deadlines or when juggling multiple quotes

Pathways for Growth at Civmec

Over the long run, this role sets you up with a solid base in estimating and gives you the chance to grow alongside some of the best in the business. You’ll get hands-on experience with real projects, learn how to break down scopes, work with suppliers, and understand how big builds come together. As you develop your skills, there’s plenty of room to move into senior estimating, project planning, or commercial roles. With Civmec’s wide range of projects across industries like defence, infrastructure, and energy, you’ll never be stuck doing the same thing—and you’ll always have opportunities to learn, grow, and take your career wherever you want it to go.
