Civmec is proud to be delivering Iluka’s SMPE&I package, including the piping installation scope for the Iluka Rare Earths Refinery. Australia’s first fully integrated rare earths facility and a key component of the nation’s critical minerals strategy. This large scale project involves complex structural, mechanical, piping, electrical and instrumentation works across a high profile processing facility.
As construction progresses, we are now seeking an experienced HSE Trainer & Assessor to deliver safety training, support workforce competency, and reinforce strong safety behaviours across the SMPE&I scope. You will play a key role in ensuring personnel are equipped to meet project and legislative requirements while contributing to a proactive, high performance safety culture.
This position is based at the Iluka Rare Earths Refinery in Eneabba, approximately 274 km north of Perth, Western Australia. We offer a 2:1 DIDO roster, with transport to and from site provided from Perth Airport.
The Role
Reporting to the HSE Superintendent, the HSE Trainer & Assessor plays a key role in supporting project safety compliance by delivering training to industry best practice standards and overseeing the Verification of Competency (VOC) process to ensure workers are competent to operate plant, equipment, and perform high risk activities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct VOC assessments in accordance with company procedures and approved assessment tools.
- Ensure VOCs are completed objectively, consistently, and in line with internal competency standards
- Liaise with supervisors to schedule VOC assessments and identify competency gap
- Support onboarding and site specific inductions/orientation.
- Maintain accurate, secure, and up to date VOC records and competency matrices.
- Undertaking Verification of Competencies (VOC’s)
- Maintaining equipment registers
- Conducting inspections, internal audits, toolbox talks and inductions as required
- Provide accurate daily, weekly and monthly reports as required
- Analyse and report hazards on site and develop control measures
- Liaise with site supervision to ensure understanding of the HSE management system and procedures
- Identify training needs for all personnel
About You

- Certificate IV in Work health and Safety or higher
- TAE40116 / TAE40122Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
- Registered WorkSafe HRWL Assessor
- High Risk Licence with WP, LF, CN, C6 or greater
- Construction Card
- First Aid & CPR
- Prior experience delivering training within construction/mining Sector
