Civmec is expanding its Commercial team to tackle exciting upcoming projects. We're looking for a seasoned Commercial Manager to join our manufacturing and fabrication division, where you'll drive commercial success, foster strong client relationships, and ensure seamless project delivery.
You will be a key member of the management team with the opportunity for development and long-term career growth. This opportunity will allow you to add value to the team by using your experience and commercial acumen to drive commercial and project outcomes whilst managing key relationships with project stakeholders. You will enjoy a proactive and pragmatic approach in the management of risk, contractual obligations and relationships between Civmec and its Clients and Suppliers.
The Role
To provide leadership and manage all aspects of the project commercial and contract functions, including but not limited to:
- Lead head contract compliance, including the timely preparation and submission of notices, claims, and other contractual communications.
- Drive the resolution and closeout of project variations, extensions of time, and remeasurement claims, ensuring commercial outcomes are maximised.
- Manage the procurement and engagement of suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring risk mitigation strategies are embedded in contract formation and execution.
- Provide contract guidance and mentoring to the project team, supporting their understanding of commercial risks and compliance requirements under both head contracts and subcontracts.
- Oversee project cost tracking and reporting, including monthly forecasts, cash flow analysis, and supplier liability reporting.
- Ensure robust systems and processes are in place to manage and recover variations and contract adjustments throughout the project lifecycle.
- Perform and oversee complex commercial tasks requiring strategic judgement and high-level contractual expertise.
About You
Your experience should include the following:
- Tertiary Qualification in Law, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Contracts Management or similar field;
- Prior experience in a similar lead commercial role focusing on successful project outcomes;
- At least 5 years’ experience in the delivery of major projects;
- Strong, clear and effective communication skills, both written and verbal;
