Join Civmec Defence Industries Pty Ltd (CDI), formerly Luerssen Australia, as a Mechanical Engineering Technician.
As a wholly owned subsidiary of Civmec, CDI is unlocking the potential of sovereign steel shipbuilding by investing in local skills, knowledge transfer, and collaboration with Australian subcontractors and suppliers. Together, we’re building a competitive and sustainable naval shipbuilding industry that supports long-term national capability.
Located in our Assembly Hall, Henderson, WA, this is a full-time appointment offering long-term career security for a systems-driven individual.
Key Responsibilities:

Preparing technical drawings, plans, and design documentation under the guidance of Mechanical Engineers and Engineering Technologists.

Supporting the design and development of mechanical systems, equipment, and plant infrastructure.

Selecting appropriate tools, materials, and equipment for mechanical projects.

Assembling and installing new or modified mechanical components, machinery, control systems, and hydraulic power units.

Estimating material quantities, costs, and equipment needs for project planning.

Conducting and overseeing field and laboratory testing of mechanical systems.

Gathering and analysing technical data, performing complex calculations, and producing detailed diagrams.

Coordinating and supervising the inspection, servicing, and maintenance of mechanical equipment and plant.

Verifying that all designs and completed work comply with relevant specifications, standards, and contractual requirements.
About You
To be successful in the role, you will possess the following:

Hold an associate degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma

Extensive experience (3+ years) in Shipbuilding/Production knowledge
-
Demonstrated industry experience in manufacturing, construction or heavy machinery
-
Team orientated approach to your work while possessing the ability to work independently if required
-
Have solid decision-making skills

Strong measuring skills and attention to detail
-
Demonstrated strong commitment to safety
