An exciting opportunity exists for a Pre-Delivery Maintenance Technician to support the Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV) Program. Working as part of the Ship Delivery Team, you will be responsible for conducting maintenance, inspections, defect rectification and preservation activities to ensure vessels are presented in a fully operational and delivery-ready condition.

The Pre-Delivery Maintenance Technician plays a key role in ensuring vessel systems, equipment and spaces are maintained to the required standards and are fully operational, defect-free and presentation-ready prior to handover to the Commonwealth of Australi

This role is ideal for a motivated tradesperson or technician with a strong focus on quality, safety, and attention to detail.

The Role

Reporting to the Pre-Delivery Maintenance Lead, your responsibilities will include:

Conduct planned, preventative and corrective maintenance across vessel systems and equipment.
Perform inspections, fault finding, troubleshooting, repairs and equipment servicing.
Identify, manage and support the closure of defects, punch items and maintenance actions.
Maintain vessel readiness through preservation, housekeeping and equipment upkeep.
Complete maintenance records, inspection reports and associated documentation accurately.
Coordinate with Production, Engineering, Commissioning, Quality and subcontractors to resolve issues and achieve delivery milestones.
Support vessel walkdowns, inspections and delivery readiness assessments.
Ensure all work complies with safety, quality and environmental standards.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and lessons learned activities.

About You

To be successful in the role you will possess:

Essential

Trade or technical qualification in Mechanical, Marine, Electrical, Refrigeration, Instrumentation, Boilermaking, Diesel Mechanics or similar.
Experience in maintenance, repairs and troubleshooting within marine, defence, industrial or manufacturing environments.
Strong fault-finding skills and ability to interpret technical drawings and manuals.
Commitment to safety, quality and attention to detail.
Strong communication, teamwork and organisational skills.
Ability to work independently, manage priorities and resolve defects through to completion.

Desirable

Experience in naval shipbuilding, marine maintenance, vessel operations or defence projects.
Knowledge of shipboard mechanical, electrical, piping, HVAC or auxiliary systems.
Experience with Defence quality systems and controlled documentation.
Confined Space and Working at Heights tickets.
Defence industry experience.

Working Environment

Ability to work onboard vessels and in active shipbuilding environments.
Comfortable working in confined spaces when required.
Flexibility to support activities across multiple locations.

Security Requirements

Due to the Security Clearance required for this position, applicants must be Australian Citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain an NV1 Security Clearance through the Australian Government
