This is a great opportunity for experienced Mechanical Trades Assistants to join our team working on the FMG Green Iron project located at Christmas Creek. Civmec has been awarded the delivery of the Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Piping, Electrical & Instrumentation packages of work that kicked off in June 2025 with project completion scheduled for Mid-2026. The project offers a 3:1 roster with transport to and from site provided from Perth Airport.
The Role
Reporting to Leading Hand/Supervisor you will be responsible for supporting trades, your key responsibilities are:
- Operate construction tools and equipment such as power drills, grinders, hammers, and other cutting or shaping machinery under supervision.
- Prepare and set up work areas for tradespeople including mechanical fitters, electricians, boilermakers, and other trades.
- Load, unload, and deliver building materials to designated areas on-site, ensuring timely supply for ongoing tasks.
- Transport tools, materials, and components between workstations, storage areas, and construction zones.
- Support qualified trades across various tasks including demolition, installation, assembly, and site preparation.
- Carry out pre-start inspections on hand tools, power equipment, and machinery to ensure safe operation.
- Store tools and equipment securely and maintain a tidy, hazard-free workspace.
- Wear appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) for each task, including hard hats, gloves, boots, and eye protection.
- Contribute to Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) by identifying risks and suggesting safe work methods.
- Complete Take-5 risk assessments before starting tasks to identify hazards and implement controls.
- Perform general site duties as directed, including cleanup, basic repairs, and assisting with temporary structures.
About You
To be successful in the role you will possess the following:

- 12 months + experience in a similar role within the mining/construction industry (large scale projects)
- Must have construction experience
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment
- A willingness to assist Mechanical Fitters, Boilermakers and various other trades
- High Risk Work Licence (WP essential, LF desirable)
- Construction Safety Awareness card (White Card)
- Working at Heights within 2 years
- EWP over 11m
