Join the Civmec Team

We are seeking an experienced HR/IR Advisor to support the successful delivery of Perth Park – WA’s premier entertainment and sporting precinct. This Alliance delivered, city shaping program offers a rare opportunity to contribute to a landmark development that will leave a lasting legacy for the community and industry.

In this site‑based, hands-on role you will support project mobilisation, daily workforce management and the consistent delivery of our people and industrial relations frameworks. You will also oversee subcontractor compliance with ER/IR requirements and manage union interface activities, including right‑of‑entry processes.

This position reports to the Alliance Director and will work closely with all Alliance partners to ensure an integrated and compliant approach to workforce and industrial relations across the project.

The Role

  • Be permanently based on site, working directly with the wider project team to support day‑to‑day workforce needs and resolve HR/IR issues quickly.
  • Set up new starters for site mobilisation, making sure contracts, conditions and pay details are correct and aligned to the project’s employment arrangements.
  • Provide day‑to‑day advice to supervisors and site leaders on classifications, entitlements, allowances, rosters and Award/Agreement requirements.
  • Check that subcontractors are meeting their ER/IR obligations, including verifying employment conditions, labour hire compliance and site‑specific requirements.
  • Manage union interactions on site, including right‑of‑entry requests, coordinating with site leadership and keeping the Alliance informed of any issues.
  • Work with leaders on performance management, probation reviews, investigations and disciplinary processes, including preparing letters and documenting outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate employee information in SuccessFactors, including contract variations, changes to conditions and workforce movements between roles or work fronts.
  • Support Payroll and Recruitment to ensure employees are onboarded correctly and any changes are processed quickly and accurately.
  • Collaborate closely with the Alliance’s HR and HSE teams, as well as contractor representatives, to align processes, support safety initiatives and maintain a consistent, positive site culture.
  • Maintain a strong, visible presence across the site, engaging with the workforce, building relationships and identifying issues early to support a respectful and productive workplace.
  • Assist with industrial matters or Fair Work documentation when required.

About You

To be successful in the role you will possess the following:

  • Proven experience in an HR/IR role within a contractor, construction, civil, engineering or another site-based project environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of:
    • Australian employment legislation
    • Awards, Agreements and project-specific terms and conditions
  • Confidence providing practical, commercially‑minded advice to operational leaders
  • The ability to manage ER matters end‑to‑end, including performance management, investigations, disciplinary processes and probation reviews.
  • Confidence engaging with subcontractors, managing union interactions (including right‑of‑entry), and troubleshooting payroll or onboarding queries as they arise.
  • Experience with enterprise bargaining, Fair Work matters or industrial disputes is beneficial but not essential.
