Civmec is proud to be delivering the Civil works for a major project in BHP’s Nelson Point facility in Port Hedland, WA. The scope encompasses Civil and Structural works associated with the new Car Dumper 6 and other civil facilities required as part of the overall Port Debottlenecking Project phase 2 (PDP2). We are seeking highly motivated and safety‑driven Senior HSE Advisors to join our team and play a pivotal role in strengthening our safety culture across all project operations.
In this position, you will provide critical leadership in ensuring full compliance with health, safety, and environmental requirements. You will work collaboratively with project teams and subcontractors to identify risks, implement effective controls, and champion continuous improvement across site activities.
This role is offered on a 2:1 FIFO roster from Perth, with the project expected to run for approximately 18 months.
The Role
- Oversee and manage HSE aspects of both Civil and Structural works executed by Civmec and its subcontractors
- Support risk identification and management processes to ensure work activities are reduced to ALARP (As Low as Reasonably Practicable)
- Lead incident investigations and communicate findings to project and management teams ensuring corrective actions address root causes and prevent recurrence
- Develop, implement, and coordinate HSE standards, programs, and procedures
- Ensure all project activities, processes, and systems comply with relevant legislation and the Corporate Compliance Matrix
- Stay informed of legislative changes and apply updates to company standards, procedures, and plans
- Monitor, communicate, and implement regulatory updates as required
About You
To be successful in the role you will possess the following:
- Previous experience in a similar Senior HSE role within construction or heavy industry projects
- Strong knowledge of WHS legislation and best practices
- A commitment to safety, integrity, and teamwork
- Cert IV or Diploma in OHS
- ICAM or Taproot Certification
- Previous use of HSE databases
- Ability to communicate with a range of key stakeholders and key role members
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in remote environments
