The Opportunity

Civmec are currently seeking a Contracts Advisor. to join our Commercial team, based at Henderson. This role is permanent and on a full time basis.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide legal advice across the business to management and executives as required;
  • Ensuring the commercial interests of the business are protected and promoted under or in connection with any contracts the business intends to enter into or has entered into;
  • Provide assistance in drafting and administration of contracts;
  • Review of tender documentation and identification of pre-contract risks, including preparation of CRA’s;
  • Reviewing Head Contracts and issuing commercial clarifications to proposals manager;
  • Prepare subcontract suites for projects (flow down of Head Contract provisions);
  • Prepare head contract documentation including securities;
  • Prepare and/or review corporate contracts;
  • Liaising with company procurement, risk management and audit personnel;
  • Conducting commercial and legal negotiations with contractors;
  • Reviewing contractual commitments and interpretation of rights and obligations and assess claims made under contracts by or against the business;
  • Maintain lessons learnt register and Contracts Register; and
  • Administrative duties ancillary to the role.

About You

Essential

  • University degree in Australian Law 
  • Minimum 3 years’ post admission experience in private practice or in-house as a solicitor or in a similar role with specialisation in construction law and dispute resolution is required.
  • Negotiating and contract drafting skills
