Civmec is proud to be delivering the civil works package for a major development within BHP’s Nelson Point facility in Port Hedland, WA. The scope includes civil and structural works associated with the new Car Dumper 6, along with supporting civil infrastructure required for the broader Port Debottlenecking Project Phase 2 (PDP2).
We are seeking a detail oriented, analytical, and commercially focused Cost Controller to support the project team and ensure accurate cost management across this large scale execution phase. This role will play a key part in monitoring project performance, maintaining cost integrity, and supporting effective decision‑making throughout the project lifecycle.
This position operates in our Henderson Head Office.
The Role
In this role, you will support all project cost‑control activities, working closely with project leaders and subcontractors to monitor expenditure, maintain accurate cost records, track commitments, and ensure compliance with financial processes. Strong attention to detail and analytical capability will be essential in this fast‑paced environment.
- Manage supplier requisitions and purchase orders, including new supplier setup, GRN entry, and PO close‑out
- Audit procurement activities and ensure all invoices and requisitions are properly authorised
- Monitor subcontractor insurance, securities, retentions, and bank guarantees
- Ensure compliance with project accounting policies and procedures.
- Maintain the project budget, cost code structure, and updates aligned with revenue changes.
- Track project claim deadlines and oversee claims, certificates, invoicing, and payments.
- Maintain month‑end reporting deadlines and deliver accurate profit and cash‑flow forecasts.
- Lead and support preparation of cost forecasts for labour, staff, plant, and equipment, including financial and progress graph

About You
- Tertiary Qualification in Finance or related field
- Experience in past work in mining, construction and engineering sector
- Experience with Revenue and Budgeting
- Sound MS Excel skills
- Ability to work autonomously in a high pressure environment
- Practical knowledge and experience of cost control techniques
