Civmec’s Original Equipment Manufacturing (OEM) division, Balanced Machines, is driving the future of materials handling. We design and deliver next-generation balanced machines, stackers, reclaimers, and shiploaders. Every machine is crafted at our state-of-the-art Henderson facility, from design and fabrication through assembly, testing, and finally on-site installation and commissioning.
We’re seeking an exceptional Design Manager to lead and inspire within our dynamic, rapidly growing team. In this influential role, you’ll own the design function end-to-end, acting as the strategic bridge between leadership and creative execution. The Role
- Provide leadership to the design team, driving outcomes, accountability and responsibility within the teams;
- Identify and provide design resources to meet project schedule and resourcing obligations to ensure design delivery in accordance with project schedules;
- Monitor, evaluate and practice continuous improvement in the design tools utilised by the teams and identify opportunities for improvement in efficiency, effectiveness and output;
- Assist in the development of system and procedures to facilitate engineering design methods;
- Identify project scope or design changes, or other issues which could adversely affect project cost or schedule, promptly to the lead engineer, engineering management and project management;
- Ensure project documents, data and information are correctly sourced, reviewed, managed and available to the wider team in a timely and efficient manner.
- Prepare, Review and Mark-up 3D Models and Drawings with due consideration of safety, operability, simplicity and cost minimisation;
- Participate in design reviews as required;
- Participate in studies, conceptual designs and estimate preparation as required;
- Review the project scope and Technical Brief and apply the design criteria and methodologies outlined in the engineering of the project;
- Assist in the preparation of proposals as required;
- Ensures all work is done to the Company’s quality expectations;
- Mentor all team members s required.
About You
To be successful in the role you will possess the following:
- Tertiary or TAFE qualifications in Structural, Mechanical or Civil Engineering.
- And / or Certificate IV in Engineering Drafting.
- 10 + years’ design/engineering experience in a relevant industry.
- 5 + years’ experience working within a multi-discipline project team.
- Experience working on PTC Creo and Windchill and other main stream 3D modelling and drawing platforms.
- Previous experience in mobile material handling equipment, such as Balance Machines, reclaimers, stackers and shiploader is desirable.
