These long‑term opportunities span multiple sites, where you’ll support the planning, coordination, and technical delivery of major structural, mechanical, and piping works. We offer 2:1 FIFO and DIDO rosters, working within high‑performing teams committed to safety, quality, and innovation. If you’re an SMP Engineer looking for stability, project variety, and the chance to contribute to landmark infrastructure and resources developments, we’d like to hear from you.

The Role

  • Align SMP construction activities with project schedules and specifications
  • Liaising with key stakeholders to resolve technical queries and ensure alignment
  • Providing detailed reporting to monitor progress
  • Manage technical deviation requests and maintain the technical query register
  • Maintain compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards across all works
  • Conduct inspections to verify quality and readiness for testing and commissioning
  • Identify and mitigate risk and non-conformances through proactive problem-solving
  • Assist with material take-offs, procurement tracking, and delivery coordination
  • Participate in pre-starts, toolbox talks, and safety reviews to promote a strong safety culture
  • Collaborating with planning and commercial teams to support forecasting, cost control, and change management.

About You

When you join Civmec and become part of this exciting, sustainability‑driven construction project, you’ll bring:

  • A tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
  • Proven experience delivering SMP (Structural, Mechanical & Piping) scopes on major construction projects
  • Strong technical knowledge across piping systems, steel structures, mechanical equipment installation, and modern construction methodologies
  • Proficiency in MS Office and engineering software such as AutoCAD, Navisworks, or similar tools.
