Civmec is currently delivering the Concrete and Field Erect Tanks Package in Eneabba, Western Australia. Following a successful start in May 2025, the project is now transitioning into the Structural, Mechanical, and Piping (SMP) phase.
This project is based in the Mid-Western Region and offers a 2:1 roster to all personnel, offering better work-life balance to our employees. Transportation to and from site is provided from Perth Airport.
We’re seeking experienced SMP Engineers to join our delivery team and contribute to this exciting phase of execution
The Role
As a SMP Engineer on this project, you’ll play a pivotal role in managing scope, liaising with clients, and driving execution across construction, quality, and commercial functions.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing and coordinating SMP construction activities in line with project schedules and specifications
- Liaising with client representatives, subcontractors, and internal teams to resolve technical queries and ensure alignment
- Monitoring progress and preparing detailed weekly and monthly reports for internal and client stakeholders
- Reviewing and approving technical deviation requests and maintaining the technical query register
- Ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards across all works
- Supporting the development of work packs, ITPs, and construction methodologies
- Conducting inspections and walkdowns to verify installation quality and readiness for testing or commissioning
- Identifying and mitigating risks and non-conformances through proactive problem-solving
- Assisting with material take-offs, procurement tracking, and delivery coordination
- Participating in pre-starts, toolbox talks, and safety reviews to promote a strong safety culture
- Collaborating with planning and commercial teams to support forecasting, cost control, and change management
About You
To thrive in this role, you’ll ideally bring:
- A tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
- Proven experience delivering SMP (Structural, Mechanical, and Piping) scopes on major construction projects
- Strong technical knowledge of steel structures, mechanical equipment installation, piping systems, and associated construction methodologies
- Proficiency in MS Office and relevant engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, Navisworks, or similar)
