The Role

 

Reporting to the Commissioning Manager the Mechanical Commissioning Technician is primarily involved in the commissioning of the Offshore Patrol Vessels (OPVs) in the form of Set to Work (STW), Harbour Acceptance Trials and Sea Acceptance Trials working closely alongside subcontractors and vendors. Other duties of the role involve pre-test activities such as pipe testing and flushing, pre-delivery maintenance, operation of equipment and supporting post-delivery warranty periods.

 

  • Provide technical input for the creation and refinement of commissioning documentation, including the STW coordination checklist, risk assessments, and relevant procedures to ensure safety and compliance.
  • Facilitate and verify the isolation process and ensure proper procedures are followed during re-energisation, adhering to safety and operational protocols.
  • Execute pre- and post-STW planned maintenance activities on assigned systems and equipment to ensure operational readiness and optimal performance.
  • Operate commissioned equipment as needed to support system testing, troubleshooting, and operational requirements during the commissioning phase.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Production and other internal teams to drive efficient resolution of commission issues and ensure the timely achievement of project goals.
  • Contribute to the improvement of commissioning processes by identifying areas ofenhancement based on lessons learned and industry best practices.
  • Maintain effective communication and foster strong working relationships with internal stakeholders, including DNV GL’s classification surveyor, NSSG/NCB/Navy customer
    representatives, to ensure alignment of project deliverables and expectations.
  • Ensure that all required reports, logs and documentation are completed and submitted in a timely manner to management, ensuring traceability and transparency of commissioning
    activities.

 

About you

 

  • Mechanical Trade qualification
  • Enter and work in confined spaces license
  • Working at heights license
  • Gas Test Atmospheres license
  • 5 + years’ experience as a Marine Technician is desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience and in-depth knowledge of STW, HATs and SATs, operation and maintenance of marine systems.
  • HVAC, Platform, Auxiliary and Propulsion system knowledge is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in the use of test equipment, interpretation of results and in fault finding and resolving complex issues on equipment/systems during the commissioning phase.
  • Demonstrated experience using the Microsoft suite to collect and collate date and to develop reports.
