The Opportunity

Civmec are currently seeking an experienced Permit Officer/ERT Leader to join our  team, based at our Henderson Facility.

This position is responsible to act as a permit authority, assess and issue Permit to Work (PTW) against high risk work activities for the OPV Project. The position is also responsible for coordination, leadership and compliance tasks associated with the Emergency Response Team (ERT).

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Development and implementation of PTW procedures and tools in line with the safety and quality management systems, procedures and work instructions
  • Assessing and authorising PTW against high risk activities
  • Assisting the Shipbuilding Manager in prioritising and scheduling of high risk activities
  • Carry out daily inspections of work areas to ensure PTW compliance
  • Assisting HSE Advisor(s) in incident investigations / root cause analysis associated with PTW breaches
  • Coordinate and lead the ERT
  • Ensure the ERT members have appropriate and in date training
  • Ensure the ERT equipment is in good working condition and maintenance records maintained
  • Ensure the ERT are regularly conducting drills to ensure skills are maintained and in line with high risk work activities being conducted 
  • Maintain accurate documentation and file management
  • Establish effective communications with all stakeholders
  • Perform other general duties that may be necessary to suit operational requirements as directed
     

About You

Essential

  • MSMPER300 Issue Work Permits
  • PMAWHS311 Lead Emergency Teams (or similar)
  • HLTAID011 Provide First Aid
  • Experience in PTW management in the construction, manufacturing, resources or shipbuilding industry
  • Experience in leading or being part of an ERT in the construction, manufacturing, resources or shipbuilding industry
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Intermediate Microsoft Word and Excel skills
  • Strong attention to detail

Preferred

  • Formal qualifications in Occupational Health and Safety
    -    RIIWHS202D Enter and Work in Confined Spaces
    -    PUASAR025 Undertake Confined Space Rescue
    -    PUAFER005 Operate as Part of an Emergency Control Organisation
    -    TLIF2018 Operate Firefighting Equipment
