The Opportunity

Civmec are currently seeking a Welding Supervisor to join our team, based at the Head Office in Henderson. 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Promote and ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures
  • Ensure a safe workplace and practises are strictly adhered to by all those under their control
  • Ensure best trade practises are performed in accordance with the relevant welding standards and specifications
  • Ensure all QA/QC inspections and testing is performed in accordance with the relevant Quality Plan
  • Promote and maintain a positive and respectful team environment for all those under their control
  • Ensure the proper use and treatment of all company equipment and tools
  • Mentor and train Welding Leading Hands to ensure competency in their roles
  • Provide welding expertise and guidance to the Fabrication Superintendent and Fabrication Supervisors
  • Directly supervise critical or uncommon welding projects as directed by the Workshop Superintendent
  • Promote the use of automatic welding where suitable
  • Coordinate with QA/QC for the development and qualification of new weld PQR’s when required
  • Monitor the performance and abilities of the welders
  • Manage the procurement, receipt, storage and issuing of welding consumables in accordance with Work Instruction QMS-WI-009
  • Develop and maintain a register of all welding equipment
  • Manage the maintenance of all welding equipment
  • Oversee the testing of welders
  • Promote and maintain an environment of continuous improvement
  • Communicate, to all those under their control, all instructions, changes and information issued by company
  • Maintain company standards for Quality Assurance purposes
  • Provide accurate daily, weekly and monthly reports as required

About You


  • Recognised Australian Fabrication Trade Qualification
  • Minimum IIW qualification or AS1796 Certificate 10 or equivalent
  • Minimum ten (10) years welding supervisory experience in a heavy mining, oil and gas, or resources fabrication workshop
  • Thorough understanding of Australian and International Welding Standards
  • Proven experience with welding to mining and oil and gas specifications
  • Proven experience of working to QA/QC systems aligned with ISO3834
  • Thorough understanding of OHSE requirements in accordance with company Safety Management Policies, Plans and Procedures
  • Thorough understanding of cost implications of non-productive welding practises
  • Knowledge of different welding techniques and their application to different materials
  • Thorough knowledge of the workings of all equipment and tools used in the welding of steel structures, piping and pressure vessels
  • Proficient knowledge in MS Office suite
  • Developed interpersonal skills
