The Opportunity

Civmec are currently seeking expressions of interest from Welders to join our ever-growing team, on the Iron Bridge Project for the SMP E&I Process Plant Construction - Dry Plant, recently awarded in the Pilbara Region of WA. This role will be FIFO from Perth.

 

The Project

The Iron Bridge Project is a Fortescue Metals Group Ltd (FMG) and Formosa Steel IB Pty Ltd (Formosa) Joint Venture (JV) Project with the site located near Marble Bar, approximately 145 km South of Port Hedland in the Pilbara region of WA.
Civmec’s Scope for the Iron Bridge Project SMPE&I includes the installation of the Dry Plant including the structural, mechanical, module installation and hook-up, piping, electrical and instrumentation/controls activities required for the Project.
The project is expected to commence August 2021 with expression of interest interviews commencing immediately.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

•    Interpret engineering and detail fabrication drawings, specifications and standards
•    Undertake and pass all necessary weld qualifications in required weld processes
•    Perform the welding of steel components in all positions
•    Maintain all correct consumables, feeds, amperages and pre heat in accordance with applicable weld procedures
•    Perform welding techniques including, but not limited to, MMAW, FCAW, MIG, SAW
•    Weld steel structures in sequence to eliminate shrinkage and distortion of steel components
•    Remove tack welds, clean and restore weld preparations where required
•    Perform gouging operations if required
•    Conduct visual inspection and clean up between runs and at the completion of each weld
•    Assign welder number to each completed mark when required
•    Move steel components into place ready to perform work
•    Maintain correct and accurate MARK numbers on steel components

 

About You

•    You will be based in Perth, Western Australia or be prepared to make your own way to Perth as the point of hire.
•    Trade Certificate in Welding or Metal Fabrication 
•    Previous records of passed welder qualifications
•    Current Demonstrate First Attack Firefighting Equipment Certificate
•    Minimum 3 years’ experience with similar welding processes, specifications and standards is essential
•    Previous construction experience in the mining and resources sector
•    Nationally recognised Construction Safety Awareness Card
