The Opportunity

Civmec are currently seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer to join our Capital Works team.

This is a full time role based in Henderson with travel to site required during project periods (various FIFO rosters).

Duties and Responsibilities

•    Reviews Scope of Work (SOW) documents and ensures project specifications and code requirements are covered within the SOW;
•    Provides technical support during all project phases to ensure that project designs meet operational requirements, specified engineering standards, quality standards and time and profit objectives for the Project.  
•    Assessment of risks and hazards involved in tasks, and methods to manage the hazards in order to prevent incidents, injury and damage
•    Liaise with client representatives regarding technical queries, inspections, project scheduling and coordinating deliveries
•    Attend regular progress meetings with both internal and external project stakeholders
•    Provide accurate daily, weekly and monthly status reports as directed
•    Monitor and review design changes to assess the effect on project budget and schedule
•    Assist in the preparation of progress claims and variations
•    Preparation of work schedules
•    Assists with the compilation of construction work packs and test packs in accordance with Project requirements
•    Liaises with the Engineer on all technical aspects of the Project. 
•    Review and approve technical deviation/query requests and maintain TQ register
•    Prepares subcontract scope of work and requisitions for materials and services in accordance with Project requirements (content, accuracy and timing)
•    Subcontractor management; provides a focal point for all technical based queries, budget, cost and variation 
•    Maintain company standards for Quality Assurance purposes
•    Understand and implement quality control techniques
•    Take timely corrective action to address any issued non-conformances
•    Prepares, with the Quality Lead, all Inspection and Test Plans and associated project-specific procedures
•    Ensures quality records are progressively completed and signed off in accordance with the schedule 
•    Ensures that the surveys of installations throughout the Project are conducted in a professional manner with all results being reviewed and accepted
•    Present neat documentation, correspondence and records as requested
•    Lead, manage and provide guidance to Project Engineers, Junior Engineers and Graduate Engineers
•    Perform other general duties that may be necessary to suit operational requirements as directed

About You

  • Tertiary qualifications in mechanical engineering or construction management
  • Previous project experience on SMP construction projects ideally in the mining, oil and gas sector is desirable
  • Sound knowledge of the application and establishment of project planning, scheduling and cost control tools is essential.
  • Proficient knowledge in MS Office suite is essential.
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills
  • High level of computer literacy
