The Role
You will work as part of the surface preparation and coatings team, ensuring all steel components are prepared to the highest standard prior to coating or fabrication.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out mechanical hand preparation using wire brushes, scrapers, sanding tools, and MBX bristle blasters
- Remove surface contaminants, rust, and scale from steel components
- Clean, degrease, and wipe down surfaces to ensure proper adhesion of coatings
- Assist in the mixing and preparation of coating materials under supervision
- Apply touch-up paint to small areas where required
- Maintain tools, brushes, and work areas in clean, serviceable condition
- Always follow safety and environmental guidelines
- Assist tradespeople with general duties as directed
About You
- At least 1–2 years’ experience in industrial or workshop environments (surface preparation preferred)
- Knowledge of safe handling of chemicals, solvents, and coatings
- Physically fit and able to work in hot, noisy, or confined environments
- Able to follow instructions and work as part of a team
- High attention to detail and a strong work ethic
