Civmec Defence Industries (CDI) is seeking an accomplished and strategic Project Director to lead the SEA1180 Offshore Patrol Vessel Program . This is a pivotal leadership role within our Defence portfolio, responsible for driving one of CDI’s flagship programs in partnership with the Commonwealth of Australia.
As the senior leader overseeing SEA1180, you will provide direction, governance, and oversight across all phases of the project lifecycle, ensuring delivery excellence in line with Defence, Commonwealth, and organisational standards. This role reports directly to the CDI General Manager and engages regularly with Commonwealth representatives, Civmec executives, and key industry partners.
The Role
Are you an experienced Defence-sector project leader with a proven track record delivering large, complex programs. You bring strong commercial acumen, exceptional stakeholder management skills, and the ability to lead high‑performing teams in a dynamic environment. Your leadership style is strategic, collaborative, and outcomes‑focused and do you process the below key areas
- Lead the SEA1180 program with clear direction, alignment, and purpose.
- Ensure compliance with contractual, Defence, and Commonwealth governance frameworks.
- Oversee planning, scheduling, and execution across all project phases.
- Deliver the program within scope, budget, schedule, and quality expectations.
- Achieve contract milestones and manage all deliverables.
- Manage budgets, forecasts, and cost‑control measures.
- Oversee contract administration, variations (ECP/CCP), and compliance with Defence procurement frameworks.
- Mentor and develop team members, fostering capability, succession, and high performance.
About You
- NV1 Security Clearance (or ability to obtain)
- Minimum 7 yrs experience in ship building
- Minimum 5 years in technical senior leadership
- Understanding of EVMS project Management Techniques
