The Opportunity

 

Civmec are currently seeking a Career focused Junior Project Engineer to join our prestigious OPV shipbuilding project. 

This is a full time permanent opportunity with career progression open to a qualified Junior Engineer with 1-2 years work place experience in any of the following areas; Naval, Mechanical, Fabrication, Construction or Production.  You will join our professional team based in a state of the art purpose built facility Henderson Western Australia.

 

Successful Applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain appropriate clearances as required by Department of Defence. This will include a national police clearance.

Duties and Responsibilities

 

The Junior Project Engineer will gradually take on all responsibilities of a project engineer whilst supporting  the Senior Project Engineer’s on more complex work scope.

 

Daily activities will  typically include;

 

  • Improve efficiency in production through effective pre-planning and organisation
  • Study overall project scope & thoroughly understand scope within assigned battery limits
  • Organise scope for fabrication & installation according to the build strategy and schedule
  • Assess material requirements and stock levels for assigned scope & develop pick lists
  • Arrange material orders to meet required consumption for assigned scope via the procurement team
  • Work with the scheduler to ensure the Project Detailed Schedule is aligned to all agreed plans
  • Liaise with client representatives regarding data drops, technical issues & project sequencing
  • Utilise the 3D model to develop 4D plans and visualisations
  • Work closely with other Work Preparation Engineers to integrate plans
  • Thoroughly review plans with stakeholders before proceeding to work packaging
  • Develop Work Packs with the required information to perform the scope
  • Load Civtrac Database with the required information to process and control the scope
  • Effectively hand over the scope to the responsible Supervisor(s) and Production Support Engineer(s)
  • Maintain company standards for Quality Assurance purposes
  • Present neat documentation, correspondence and records as requested
  • Provide accurate reports as directed
  • Perform other general duties that may be necessary to suit operational requirements as directed

About You

Essential

 

  • Tertiary qualifications in naval, structural, or mechanical engineering or construction management
  • Minimum 1 - 2 years project experience on fabrication or construction projects, ideally in the shipbuilding sector,
  • 1-2 years hands on experience in Engineering; mechanical, fabrication  construction or production 
  • Proficient skills and knowledge in all Microsoft Office Suites
  • Superior interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with stakeholders and key relationships members at all levels

 

Preferred

 

  • Experience in Navis Works & iConstruct an advantage
  • Experience in Solid Works
  • Advanced MS Excel
  • Experience in Scheduling
