Civmec is seeking a Compartment Completion Inspector to join our Shipbuilding Project Team in Henderson, WA. This integrated role supports final-stage compartment inspections, contributing directly to vessel acceptance and delivery.

 

You’ll be responsible for coordinating compartment completion inspections and reviewing the electrical, mechanical, and fit‑out scopes prior to cladding release and at the completed compartment level. During each inspection, you will ensure all work meets project specifications, regulatory standards, and client expectations.

The Role

  • Perform inspections in accordance with Civmec’s Quality Assurance systems and Inspection & Test Plans
  • Conduct compartment inspections with Client representatives, leading to formal sign-off
  • Verify installations against General Arrangement Plans (GAP), detailed drawings, and test requirements
  • Ensure compartments are clean, damage-free, and meet quality finish expectations
  • Identify and report non-conformances; generate and manage punch lists
  • Maintain accurate inspection records for final acceptance documentation
  • Liaise with Quality, Production, Engineering, and STW teams to ensure compartment readiness
  • Support progressive acceptance strategies and readiness for sea trials
  • Monitor punch lists and contribute to continuous improvement in the compartment acceptance activity

About You

To thrive in this role, you’ll bring:

  • 3+ years experience in structural or piping fabrication and/or technical background in Mechanical or Marine Engineering
  • Strong understanding of technical drawings, installation standards, and marine systems
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
  • Intermediate computer literacy
  • Experience in shipbuilding inspections and/or trade background highly desirable
