The Opportunity



Civmec is currently looking to expand its Commercial team to assist in the delivery of a newly awarded project within its Fabrication division. To assist our operations team, deliver this major project, Civmec is seeking your expression of interest as a suitably experienced Commercial Manager to join our project team to drive commercial outcomes and project delivery.


You will add value to the team by using your experience and commercial acumen to protect Civmec’s Commercial interest throughout the delivery of projects. You will take a proactive and pragmatic approach in the management of risk, contractual obligations and relationships between Civmec and its Clients and Suppliers. 


You will already have project experience in delivering lump sum Contracts with an established record of successful commercial outcomes that focus on contract compliance and relationship optimisation.

Duties and Responsibilities



To provide leadership and manage all aspects of the project commercial and contract functions, including but not limited to:


  • Coordinating and leading Head Contract compliance to ensure that notices and claims are communicated within specified timeframes;
  • Drive the successful closeout of project variation, extension of time and remeasurement claims;
  • Management of engagement of suppliers and Subcontractors ensuring that risk mitigation requirements are considered and implemented;
  • Provide guidance and training on commercial risks and compliance requirements under the Head Contract and Subcontracts to members of the Project Team;
  • Ensure that systems and processes are implemented to manage and control the recovery of variations and Contract adjustments throughout the course of the project;
  • Coordinate and manage the re-measurement and variation process to ensure that scope growth and change is effectively managed and monitored;

About You



Your experience should include the following:


  • Tertiary Qualification in Law, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Construction Management or similar field;
  • Prior experience in a similar lead commercial role focusing on contract compliance;
  • Previous experience within the fabrication industry is preferred;
  • Strong, clear and effective communication skills, both written and verbal;
  • Strong understanding of commercial management and project controls;
