The Role
Civmec are currently recruiting for Welders, Special Class Welders and TIG Welders, daily responsibilities would include:
- Interpret engineering and detail fabrication drawings, specifications and standards.
- Undertake and pass all necessary weld qualifications in required weld processes
- Perform the welding of steel components in all positions
- Maintain all correct consumables, feeds, amperages and pre heat in accordance with applicable weld procedures
- Perform welding techniques including, but not limited to, MMAW, FCAW, MIG, SAW
- Weld steel structures in sequence to eliminate shrinkage and distortion of steel components
- Remove tack welds, clean and restore weld preparations where required
- Perform gouging operations if required
- Conduct visual inspection and clean up between runs and at the completion of each weld
- Assign welder number to each completed mark when required
- Sling and move steel components with gantry cranes, mobile lifting equipment etc…
- Maintain correct and accurate MARK numbers on steel components
- Utilise all hand tools and welding machines to perform required functions
- Follow quality control systems and techniques
To be successful in the role you will possess the following:
- Recognised Welding Certificate
- Gantry Crane competency
- Dogging Certificate
- Previous records of passed welder qualifications (preferred but not essential)
- Ability to pass appropriate Weld Test
- Minimum 3 years with similar welding processes, specifications and standards

This role is paid in accordance with the applicable Enterprise Agreement. The hourly rate commences at $38.83 + Penalties + $40 per week attendance allowance.
Increasing to $40.84 + Penalties + $40 per week attendance allowance up 2 years' continuous service.
