Civmec is proud to be partnering with Iluka on the delivery of the SMPE&I package for the Iluka Rare Earths Refinery, one of Australia’s most significant critical minerals projects. This landmark development will establish the country’s first fully integrated rare earths refinery and involves the delivery of large-scale structural, mechanical, piping, electrical and instrumentation works within a complex processing environment.

 

We're seeking ambitious and experienced Senior Project Engineers who want more than just another project. This position is based at the Iluka Rare Earths Refinery in Eneabba, approximately 274 km north of Perth, Western Australia. We offer a 2:1 DIDO roster, with all transport to and from site provided from Perth Airport.

The Role

As a Senior Project Engineer, you will provide leadership across key project scopes, driving construction execution, resolving complex technical challenges, and ensuring delivery against safety, quality, cost, and schedule objectives. Working closely with Manager Engineering, supervisors, and subcontractors, you will play a pivotal role in achieving critical project milestones and delivering successful project outcomes.

 

  • Attend operations meetings and preparation and issue weekly status reports including work schedules
  • Review and approve technical deviation & query requests and maintain the register
  • Take timely corrective action to address any issued non-conformances and maintain company standards
  • Providing and developing daily, weekly and monthly reports as directed
  • Lead and manage SMP scope across construction projects Coordinate with procurement, construction, and client representatives to meet project milestones
  • Maintain compliance with time, cost, quality, and contractual requirements
  • Oversee technical documentation, inspections, and deviation approvals
  • Uphold Quality Assurance standards and resolve non-conformances
  • Prepare reports, requisitions, Work Packs, and test packs with accuracy and timelines
  • Support variation assessments and contract change management

About You

To be successful in the role you will possess the following:

 

  • A Bachelor Degree Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
  • Proven experience delivering SMP (Structural, Mechanical & Piping) scopes on major construction projects
  • Ideally 5 years in a similar industry
  • Strong technical knowledge across piping systems, steel structures, mechanical equipment installation, and modern construction methodologies
  • Proficiency in MS Office and engineering software such as AutoCAD, Navisworks, or equivalent tools meets the competency requirements for the completion system.
